Last Tuesday, Bay State Cruises extended an invitation to members of the GBCA (Greater Boston Concierge Association) to take their Fast Ferry to Provincetown. It had been years since I’ve been so I definitely jumped at the opportunity. And we were allowed to bring a guest, so that made David happy.
We left Boston at 8:30AM and arrived in Provincetown just after 10AM.

The Pilgrim Monument

Hi David!
Our first stop was the Pilgrim Monument. We decided to start the day with a little bit o’ exercise and we walked the 116 steps and 60ish ramps up to the top. The views were beautiful!

It was hot, but I was happy!
On the way down:

After the trek up (and back down), combined with the heat, we were starving. We had snacked on the boat (apples, kashi bars and Triscuits) but we were ready for lunch! It actually took us a while to find a place that wasn’t ridiculously expensive. David wanted seafood (preferrably fried); I was just looking for something light and fresh. We passed by this restaurant called Tiny’s and they advertised themselves as a restaurant that goes from farm to table. Love it! But they were closed on Tuesdays! Boo.
Well, now I just have to go there again!
We ended up settling on this place right near the cruiseport:

David got his fried scallops but I couldn’t find any kind of seafood that wasn’t deep-fried. So I ended up getting the Chicken Santa Fe Wrap. It had chicken, black beans, salsa and lettuce. I ate just a little under half with the wrap and then I just ate the rest of the insides with a fork. If it’s not whole wheat I generally don’t eat the entire wrap. The insides are the better part anyway right?

After lunch, I definitely had to get some ice cream. It’s always a treat for me when I do get it, so I make sure to indulge in the full fat variety in a small cup. And I looked for something local (even though there was a Ben and Jerry’s right there!) We happened upon a fudge shop that sold ice cream and I got a small pistachio and almond. That with a cool cup of water was a nice refresher to the hot hot afternoon.

We had a nice view while enjoying our ice cream, too.

Fun with fun-mirrors!

So, our afternoon in Provincetown was extremely enjoyable. Although I think next time I go, I’m definitely going with a girlfriend.
Do you enjoy being a tourist in your own city/state? It wasn’t until I became a concierge did I truly start to explore Massachusetts.
And what is your favorite ice cream to indulge in?
