I planned on getting so much done today, but yah, that didn’t happen.
I was hoping to clean around the apartment and oh yah, cook a turkey. Not for Thanksgiving; they were giving out free turkeys at work so David and I were hoping for some good turkey sandwiches in our future! Well, Sunday mornings just seem to scream Lets relax and watch TV. I did get in a good, easy run though.
- 3 miles
- 29:10
- 9:40 minute pace
I’m still nursing a sore knee so I’m taking it easy before the 5 mile Turkey Trot I’m doing this Thursday with my husband and parents. I love running on Thanksgiving morning. More of an excuse to just relax the rest of the day and enjoy the feast. Oh, and football.
After my run I made my usual bowl of oatmeal.

- 1/2 cup of oats
- 1 cup of water
- banana
- honey
- spoonful of Teddie peanut butter
- Cascadian Farms dark chocolate granola
I also was craving a pumpkin flavored coffee, but didn’t want to spend the money on flavored creamer (or get something with the additives) so I had an idea! I grabbed these items and mixed them together:

It worked out great! It had a subtle taste, but it was there. It also got the approval of David. He likes coffee that doesn’t taste like coffee.
Before leaving the apartment, I had some leftover Dominos pizza. I had the Honolulu Hawaiian (ham, bacon, pineapple and red peppers). I’ve found that it’s not exactly the most popular type of pizza. Do you like Hawaiian pizza? Had that with a side salad. (no photos though)
Then it was off to my parents house. My mom and I had planned on tackling my old bedroom to go through some stuff to give away, save or just sort out. Yah, as soon as I got home it was time to watch the New England Patriots vs the Indianapolis Colts football game! It was the most strenuous game to watch, but glad to say that they Pats won!
We did enjoy a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau and some crackers with Tatziki. Verdict on the wine? Just too new for me. This style wine is grown, bottled and consumed all within the same year. It was very smooth and light, and I like red wines that have a bite to them. It had a low alcohol content too because even though my mom and I finished off the bottle (oops!) we didn’t feel it at all.
For dinner (which again, escaped my camera) we enjoyed swedish meatballs from Ikea, roasted garlic couscous, corn with cauliflower and fresh from the garden carrots. Has anyone noticed how the meatballs from Ikea have the most simplest ingredients? No fillers! They are so good. For dessert I had strawberries with honey, greek yogurt and sliced almonds.
I also spent a good 5 minutes watching this guy try to get a peppermint out of the basket:

Eventually he just picked it up with his mouth. He’s such a funny cat.
Well, it’s off to bed. I’m working the morning shift and then David and I are spending the night at the Intercontinental Hotel‘s Presidential Suite!! So, tomorrow I won’t be able to post. I’ll see you (hopefully) on Tuesday!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I enjoy running, baking, dining out and spending time with my husband, whether it's decorating our new house or enjoying New England! Feel free to contact me at

I love doing my own pumpkin coffee. I just add the pumpkin pie spice in with the grounds before brewing and it comes out with the perfect hint of pumpkin.
Ooh, thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try that on my next batch.
