Good morning!

Goodbye Boston!

Hello Vegas!

Eating in Vegas was pretty much an event in and of itself. My husband loves to eat and I’m not one to shy away from restaurants. Save for the abundance of taco stands and burger joints that David wanted to frequent. I didn’t mind them every once in a while but when they were suggested for every meal (yes, even breakfast) I had to put my foot down.
And what does one do when they land anywhere on the West Coast? In ‘n Out of course! When we went on our honeymoon that was our first stop as well. When we arrived, we were greeted with a limo that the CEO of Paris had sent for us. And she was nice enough to make a quick stop at (what I believe to be) the best burgers. Or maybe it’s because they are on the opposite side of the country that make them so elusive? Either way, they are delicious!

This was the scene at noon; it had opened up at 11:30. Popular! David asked someone who worked there why they never expanded to the east coast and it turns out that the meat they get for their burgers are so fresh that they have to be used that same day and then discarded. They don’t freeze their patties so they can’t be shipped out. I thought it was just because they wanted to keep it west coast. I like the real reason better! And I saw someone take a fresh, whole potato and slice it before they put it in the fryer. No taking them out of a bag and dumping them in. And their milkshakes are soooo good. David got a vanilla, I got the chocolate. For a burger, I got the single patty with cheese, lettuce, onion and special sauce.

The next day, we started our day at the café located in the Paris Las Vegas hotel (I’ll do another post with the interior of the hotel as well as other casinos). I had a fresh fruit bowl and split a ham, egg and cheese croissant with David. The croissant was nice and buttery and it was loaded with ham and cheese. I had a side of coffee as well.

Our lunch stop was at the La Salsa Cantina located in the Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

We ended up splitting the street tacos filled with carnitas, salsa, cheese, lettuce, and cilantro. It came with a side of black beans and rice. A nice cool Corona completed the meal.

That night, before the variety show, we went to the Hole in the Wall: Battista’s Italian Restaurant. This was where the Rat Pack would go to eat in the 50s as well as other numerous stars from around that time to the present. I sat next to a couple of pictures of Sofia Loren. The whole concept of Battista’s is to order from the big menu on the wall

and your meal comes with a complimentary bottle of house red or white wine (we went white), soup or salad (we had salad), a large basket of garlic bread and a cappuccino. For my meal, I had the cannelloni and David had the lasagna. I realized in the middle of eating dinner that I hadn’t pictured it! So you’ll get the last remaining delicious bites.

For breakfast most days, so as not to break the bank too much (our breakfast the day before was $25!) we went to the local Walgreens and picked up Cheerios, bananas, milk and OJ. That was our breakfast for the remainder of our stay.

For lunch that day we headed to New York, New York to try out their Broadway Burger Bar. I had an Open Table gift card and they are an OT restaurant! I loved their selection of burgers. I opted for the Greek burger that was served in a pita, topped with a Greek salad and came with a side of cucumber yogurt.

Later on that day we opted for apps at Mon Ami Gabi (mainly because David wanted to try their French onion soup) and then to have dinner later on that night. He got his said soup and I had the butter lettuce & honey apple crisp salad with roasted beets, aged goat cheese, and apple cider vinaigrette.

Somehow along the way, that plan did not work. David ended up trying this Four Loko drink that is banned in MA, just to see what the hype was about. It is called a Blackout in a can and he didn’t so much as black out, he passed out. He drank about 1/3 of it and it didn’t even taste good. So we ended up getting room service instead. He had the prime rib dip sandwich and I had the California club with chicken noodle soup. The sandwich was huge! Thankfully we had a fridge in the room so that I could save it for the next day.

After the Hoover Dam trip on Wednesday we got dropped off at Fremont Street and had lunch at the Binion’s Café. I decided not to photograph my lunch since I was photographed out at the Dam, plus I had to conserve pictures since I only had one memory card. For lunch I was in the mood for breakfast, so I ordered an omelet with ham and green peppers, side of hash browns and wheat toast.
We walked back from Fremont Street to the Paris Casino and on the way back we stopped at Circus Circus so that David could get his “all you can eat prime rib” for $14.99! We went to the Garden Grill which ended up being an American and Mexican restaurant. I ordered the combination plate with a chicken soft taco and pork tamale. It came with a side of beans and rice (per usual).
On our way back we stopped at the Venetian for some live music and gelato. Although $5.50 for one scoop? Pretty outrageous. And it turns out at the Paris, it was only $3.25. Ah well.
On Thursday we had breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi because I really wanted to try the chocolate bacon waffles. I was hoping for chocolate batter with bacon cooked in but it ended up being regular waffle mix with bacon and chocolate bits cooked in. Still delicious though! We had it with a side of sausage.

For lunch, David just had to try Fat Burger. He had a burger, I opted out. I did have a bite and it tasted just like a McDonald’s burger. And it certainly wasn’t as good as In ‘n Out. Instead, for lunch, I had my leftover California chicken club sandwich with a side of BBQ PopChips and an apple.
For our last meals of the trip, we tried two other restaurants in our hotel. For an appetizer, we went to Le Provencal and shared a flat bread pizza topped with olive oil and garlic, bacon, fresh mozzarella, arugula and parmesan. Very crispy, salty, leafy; I loved it. We also shared a side salad with it.

I had a glass of Cte. St. Michelle Chardonnay.

Onward and upward: for more burgers! We stopped at the La Burger Brasserie and David ordered the Paris burger which was topped with brie, caramelized onions and smoked bacon. I had chicken noodle soup with a fruit cup side. Have you ever had soup that was just all broth and not much filler? This was ALL chicken, spiral pasta and veggies. Probably the best soup I have had in a long time.
Don’t worry; with all of this eating, we did do some activities too. We walked and ran everywhere.
Next post will be the activities: Hoover Dam, “V” Variety Show, the Gun Store, and faux tattoos!

It looks like you had so many wonderful eats! I adored Mon Ami Gabi as well!
Oh my gosh, those waffles look amazing! I never ate bacon before I was a vegetarian, but sometimes I think it sounds good with chocolate! Is that weird?
Not weird at all! I think the richness of chocolate goes well with the saltiness of the bacon.
Wow, looks like a trip full of great eats!
That makes me miss Vegas! I LOVE the food there. Great 1st stop at In & Out… I wish they had those on the east coast.
