Naked Pizza

I have to say that my procrastination sometimes gets the best of me. I’ve been home since around 7:30 but since then I’ve had a bowl of yogurt, cleaned my room, checked blogs, e-mail, twitter, more blogs, then YouTube videos of Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan and Gabriel Iglesias (all hilarious by the way!) I’m just now getting to my blogging and it’s 12:11AM. Ah well, at least my workout tomorrow is an easy strength ‘n stretch.

Now, onto my day!

This morning I did my long run for the week: 5 miles. The route took me through Harvard Square, Central Square and Union Square and it was very enjoyable! It was my first 5 mile run since Thanksgiving though. Wow, I have totally been slacking. And I can feel it too. But I ran it in 50 minutes so the pace was nice and easy.

My pre run fuel:

My post run breakfast: oats with honey, chocolate chips, coconut, granola, little bit of TJ’s jam and peanut butter

After breakfast, I took the bus down to the Cambridgeside Galleria to cash in an Old Navy gift card that I got from work. They were having some great sales on basic tee’s and tanks so I stocked up. I can’t wait for the warm weather so I can wear them without a cardigan over it. Smile

When I got home, I was wanting something cheesy, so I cooked up some Annie’s white cheddar mac n cheese, mixed with plain yogurt and topped with an apple. Apple goes great with white cheddar! It was delicious. So good, my roommate ended up having the rest for lunch.

This evening, I had been invited to a blogger meet up at the new Naked Pizza in Brighton Center. I love pizza so I happily accepted. This place was amazing. Their décor is minimal (bright green!) and they offer take out and delivery; no sit down. We met with the two owners, Peter and Tim who gave us a tour of the place.

By being “naked pizza”, they focus on making their pies all natural. Their dough is made up of oats, brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth, teff, spelt, tapioca, and two kinds of wheat. Their sauce consists of tomatoes, water, fresh basil and a dried herb pack. Their vegetables are cut daily and fresh and even their pepperoni gets its red color from paprika, not nitrite.

Once the dough is spread, the sauce and toppings placed on top, it’s placed in a convection conveyor. This allows the heat to be distributed evenly throughout the pizza and it melts the cheese and crisps the crust. The perfect pizza!

Once the tour was complete, it was ready to try the product! We were presented with cheese, superbiotic, smokehouse and the greenhouse. I had a taste of everything. I also ordered a Sonoran (chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms) with no mushrooms.

These pizza’s were unbelievable. And they didn’t taste healthy. They were cheesy, crunchy goodness, just the way a pizza should be. But they are all natural, so they make you feel good. Winking smile

I even talked to the manager about seeing if they can deliver to the hotel. I think we’re going to set something up!

I also met some great area bloggers tonight (take a look at Corey’s great review!) and I can’t wait to be able to do these events more often.

And I have a Sonoran (no mushrooms, add cilantro) waiting for me for lunch tomorrow.

G’night!

It sounds like you had a great time at Naked Pizza! I am totally with you about procrastination, especially since I’m working mostly at home now. I give myself scheduled time to do things – like read blogs for an hour in the morning. Otherwise, I’d be procrastinating all day!

Haha, you just name some of my favorite comedians :) Funny story- my husband and I saw Gabriel Inglesias perform at the DC Improv a couple years ago and were in the front row and he totally picked us the WHOLE show! He’s hilarious though! Brian Regan is probably my favorite though- wow can he make me laugh!

Haha, that is too funny! I just heard his racist gift basket joke and I could not stop laughing. I think he’s coming to Boston this month, I would love to see him live.

That pizza looks delicious!

I also love Jim Gaffigan — he is hilarious! Have you ever heard of Emo Phillips? He has a different kind of humor, but he makes me laugh until I am bawling. Look him up if you get a chance.

I haven’t heard of Emo Phillips. I’ll have to take a listen. Is he anything like Mitch Hedberg? I LOVED him. And I got to see him live back in 2004.

Naked Pizza sounds divine…their crust alone would be enough for me! I don’t need any toppings on my pizza, just the crust. :)

Pizza is definitely one of my favorite foods- I can’t find a great place near me though! The two best pizzas I’ve ever had were in San Diego :)

Oh…I read about this on Beck’s blog too. Looks like such a fun blogger get together!!! And what a cool company mission!

Way to knock out that five miler today. I have also been slacking on running in the new year. I can’t even believe how much things have changed with my running over the past few months since I’ve been focusing on yoga!

Love the mac and cheese/apple combo!
