My weekend did not go as I had originally planned. A little old hurricane named Irene decided to drop on in in Massachusetts. I will have to say though, it couldn’t have been better timing having it happen on a Sunday. (Silver lining people)
But it wasn’t the weekend I was hoping for. This is what was planned:
Saturday: Brewfest and quiet night at my parents house while they were at the Red Sox game
Sunday: Friend’s bridal shower in Connecticut and Howl at the Moon 1 Year Anniversary Party
Monday: Dentist appointment and dinner at Sonsie
What did end up happening was:
Saturday: Thankfully the Brewfest was still a go, but because of the insane rain delays at Fenway Park my parents ended up staying home and we went to dinner at Fresco’s and watched the Birdcage. Still a nice evening. ![]()
Sunday: Irene comes on over and knocks out the power at 11AM. (As of this posting my parents are still without power. That’s 2 days and counting)
Some were not so phased by the wind and rain. They were our entertainment.
When in rain: drink wine, play games and watch your cat try to get out of a bag.
This wine was delicious by the way! A nice smooth cabernet sauvignon.
And of course, because of the weather, the anniversary party at Howl at the Moon was cancelled. Hopefully I can make it to the new date.
Monday: The dentist office still had power. Kind of a yeah and boo moment. Yeah because I didn’t have to reschedule but boo because I hate going to the dentist. Usually I have no teeth issues but this time was different.
I have to have my wisdom teeth taken out.
I’ve never had any kind of surgery and I have no idea how I’m going to react to the anesthesia and the pain medicine. But it has to be done! So now it’s just a matter of finding an oral surgeon who takes my health insurance.
The dinner at Sonsie was also cancelled so that was a bummer. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. I’ve been there a couple times already but it’s always a treat when I do.
Thankfully the next 10 days look like this:
Sweet.
How was your weekend? Were you affected by the hurricane?

oh no! i am sorry to hear about your rainy weekend + the wisdom teeth. that is no fun at all. i had mine out when i was 17.
sooo very jealous of y0ur weather! it’s still in the 90s here.
I’m sorry to hear about this wisdom teeth. I had mine out and I still have complications from it. Hopefully your surgeon isn’t an idiot like mine was.
Ugh – the dentist!!!
I haven’t had my wisdom teeth pulled — my dentist claims they will never have to come out. Yeah, we’ll see!
The upcoming weather in Boston IS supposed to be fantastic. We have a lot of great running weather to look forward to
I haven’t ever had any kind of surgery either…. anesthesia kinda freaks me out too! Though it’s obviously been done millions of times… you’ll be fine. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out they were partially already exposed so they were able to use a local anesthetic. Not painful but the pressure alone of having teeth being yanked from your jaw was pretty awful in itself!
Super thankful we didn’t lose power in Somerville… I have heard from some of my Cape friends they aren’t getting power until Saturday!!! Awful, right?
I am looking forward to a few days of smoothies and mac ‘n cheese!
It looks like my parents won’t get their power until Sunday! It stinks.
Mmmm love Kunde wine! I am sorry about your dentist visit. My wisdom teeth just came in a few years ago (everyone else had them in high school/college, mine came in at 28!) and I am hoping I can keep em.
I used the weather this weekend to stay in, read, catch up on emails, bake and cook. It was honestly great, especially since we didn’t lose power or have any damage.
Sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth! If it makes you feel any better, I am a total baby about that kind of stuff and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
That does actually make me feel better.
Thanks Kate!
Oh girl, I just found out that my wisdom teeth need to come out too. I’m not too pleased about it.
Hopefully we’ll both have good experiences!
