Last week, the local concierge and sales/marketing from hotels were invited to the opening of the new Capital Grille in the Hynes Convention Center. They had moved locations from Newbury Street to the corner of Boylston and Dalton. The new location is GORGEOUS! They have an open and bright bar that overlooks Boylston and a new patio on the side. Their previous location was narrow and dark.
This post is solely a review on the food. I will get back there for some drinks and get pictures of their new space.
For lunch, we were seated in one of their private dining rooms. It was very spacious and right off of the main dining room and near the kitchen.
We were first served appetizers. All were delicious.
The shrimp cocktail was plump and tasty (but really, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad shrimp cocktail). I loved the calamari! It was lightly fried with some banana peppers that gave it a little kick. And the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella was to die for. The cheese wasn’t insanely melted or stringy; it was just right. And the prosciutto was just salted enough. All very flavorful apps. Highly impressed considering it was just their lunch menu.
Then it was on to the main course. I chose the roasted half chicken with vegetables (I chose green beans).
Oh my gosh. This chicken was so moist and flavorful. The skin was just crispy enough and the seasoning was simple yet bold. And the green beans were snappy and juicy. And not swimming in butter.
I have to say that I was very impressed with their selections at lunch. I’ve loved going there for dinner but I can see myself enjoying a lunch or two here as well. And definitely in the bar area.
This lunch was complimentary but my opinions are that of my own.
Capital Grille is located at 900 Boylston Street in Boston.
