Good morning all. Today is Sunday, September 11, 2011 and the nation (and possibly the world) is remembering the events that happened 10 years ago. I know it’s been on the forefront of my mind and the main reason is because DAVID IS COMING HOME!!!!! His leave got moved up even further and he should be home anytime Monday or Tuesday. He’s all I can think about right now as he’s traveling home. I haven’t heard from him since yesterday morning but I’m praying that he’s safe.
To all of those who have fallen or have lost a loved one, and those who continue to fight for our freedom, you are honored and remembered.

Yesterday my parents and I ran the NK5K in North Kingston, RI. The night before, I drove to my parents house and I was greeted with them outside on the driveway in fold up chairs, a tray table and a Harpoon IPA. As I was heading home, they called me to see if I wanted pizza and I ended up picking it up on my way to their house. A chicken and green peppers pizza for me.
In the morning, I fueled up for the 5k. I had toast with Teddie peanut butter and a side of grapes with coffee. This was my first year running it; second year for my parents.
There was no issue parking or finding our bibs. The race had around 500 people running. I am ready to go!
Let’s go! The weather was great; in the low 70s with a great breeze.
The run itself went well. There were always people around me running and for the majority of the race, the roads were still open to cars so we were pushed to the side of the road. That made it a bit tough to get around people. Rolling hills and turns made the race interesting and it was overall quite enjoyable.
Stats
Time: 29:31 (everyone’s time started when the gun went off; it was probably closer to an even 29)
Pace: 9:31
Age: 45/164
Overall: 210/532
After the race, my mom and I went down to Norwood to have our nails done! I hadn’t had a pedicure for a few years and my feet definitely deserved the attention.
I think the soaking of the feet was the best part. She massaged my legs and feet with a salt scrub and a pumice stone. It was such a weird feeling though. My feet are so sensitive; everything was ticklish. But it felt great in the end. And I had a sparkly red color for the nails.
Pretty toes!
After the appointment, my mom and I were all over: Burlington, Milford, beer run. We went to the Burlington Mall because I could not stop thinking about that dress that I wanted. So I bought it. And it was on sale!! I think I have a few other events I can wear it to, too. ![]()
The night was capped off with this delicious beer, a steak dinner and chatting with my parents outside by the chiminea.
This beer was amazing!! The pumpkin flavor wasn’t overly sweet and it had a great spice to it. Will definitely be drinking more of these during the fall.

My weekend was super relaxing. We had a lovely date night at Summer Winter Restaurant, followed by a few hours in the office yesterday, checking out Harold Parker State Park, picking up local milk at Richardson’s, cooking a fabulous healthy dinner and then watching the Help! This was one of the best relaxing weekends in a LONG time.
oh my gosh, you tried harpoon pumpkin… I need that in my life
ASAP.
Great job on your race — and how exciting that David is coming home!
Great job on the 5k! I was supposed to run a 5k this morning but it was an hour away and I just wasn’t up for getting up that early.
I NEED to find that beer! I can never find good pumpkin beers here. Definitely going to be on the lookout for this!
