Ronald McDonald 5k

This morning my mom and I ran the Ronald McDonald House of Providence all-women’s 5k in Providence, RI. It was a last minute race for me. My mom texted me yesterday and asked if I wanted to run it with her; her treat. The way my schedule worked out and the time of the race, it worked out great!

Last night I carbed up with a bowl of whole wheat pasta with broccoli and pasta sauce.

My parents also picked up the race packets the night before and the t-shirts were really nice! They were a heavier wicking material but they were fit for a women, so they were very flattering.

This morning started out cloudy and a bit chilly but there was no humidity. I thought it was perfect for a race. I had my usual toast and peanut butter and coffee before we left.

Getting there and parking was very easy and when we arrived the sun started to come out and it warmed up quite a bit. But it was still very comfortable. There were so many vendors (Pinkberry!) for such a small race of only 364 runners.

Again, loved the shirts.

The course was beautiful. It was relatively flat with a few gradual hills stuck in there. But overall, an extremely enjoyable run! I started out a bit fast (per my usual) and my first mile was in the low 8’s. I wasn’t able to sustain and ended up finishing in 27:16.

Stats
Time: 27:16
Pace: 8:48
Division: 31/364
Overall: 126/364

I would definitely do this race again! And even though my mom signed me up the day before the race, it was still only $20. And nice goody bags too!

When I got to my parents house, I showered and my mom had made some turkey wraps for lunch. I paired it with some party mix and Food Should Taste Good sweet potato chips and a cup of pumpkin spice coffee. Mm hmm good!

And now it’s off to work!

Hope you all are having a good weekend! What have you been up to?

Woooop! Nice job, Alaina:D
Love the shirt – very flattering indeed! And I think I’d run any race that provided Pinkberry ;)

I love when shirts are a bit fitter as opposed to garbage-bag like. Then I actually reuse them! Pinkberry? Jealous of that of course :)
Nice job today!

Thanks Tessa! It was a really great race. I didn’t have any pinkberry while I was there (too long of a line) but there was a coupon for a free mini in the goody bag! It’s for the RI location though. Road trip! haha

Great job on the race! I had to work all weekend but I was happy to find some time in the kitchen to do some cooking this weekend!

Those shirts are really nice! Race t-shirts are usually huge mens shirts. I’ll do that race next year just for the shirt :)

Seriously! I think all women’s races are great because they know what fits for us. Next week I’m doing the Tufts 10k; can’t wait to see what those shirts look like!
