Red Lantern–Take Two

The second time around at Red Lantern was far better than the last time I was there. I’m definitely glad that I decided to give it another chance.

Before I went to the restaurant, I met with two of my co-workers at the Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons for some drinks and bites. I had the Mule in Paris:

Lately I’ve been on an herb-infused drink kick. I love the tartness of the lime with the bite of the ginger beer. Such a great combination. And this drink was highly enjoyable.

For bites, we ordered the trio of fries which came with sweet potato, garlic parmesan and BBQ. Had a bit of each one and they were delicious. The garlic parmesan was a bit heavy on the seasonings; the BBQ was definitely my favorite.

After we were done chatting and drinking, Michelle and I headed over to the restaurant for dinner. It was busy for a Tuesday night! I’m glad I made a reservation.

We decided on a bunch of dishes to share. Michelle knew she wanted edamame and I knew I wanted sushi. Who knew that it was also National Sushi Day! Did you celebrate? Smile

To drink, I had yet another mule drink: Grass-fed Mule which was lemongrass infused Grey Goose citron, fresh lime and ginger beer.

For items to share we had: edamame, Chow Fun noodles: white pepper pork, water chestnuts and pea shoots, Crispy Bliss sushi: tempura sea bass, piquillo pepper and caramelized pineapple ooba, and a side of wood-grilled asparagus.

Everything was really really good! I loved the sushi. It had the right amount of kick from the pepper and the sweetness instantly took away the heat. And there’s nothing better than little fried pieces of fish. Smile with tongue out The asparagus had the best flavor to them. I love anything wood-grilled. And by the time we got the noodles, we were already pretty full. But I had a few bites of the delicate pork and the thick noodles. I brought the rest home, so I’m looking forward to leftovers.

The service was wonderful this time around. Very attentive and we received all the dishes in a timely manner. The music was a tad too loud for a Tuesday, but we were still able to hold our conversation. I’m so glad I gave this place a second chance; I loved it.

Red Lantern is located at 39 Stanhope Street in Boston.

Pile on the Miles

This month I’m participating in the Pile on the Miles put on by Monica over at Run Eat Repeat. The goal is to run at least 5 miles per week for the month of November and log it so that others participating can see your progression. I’m excited to get the mileage in so that by the end of the month I can start my official training for the Half at the Hampton! This month, I’m not really looking to set any goals. Except to have fun and not let the impending cold weather get me down!

Do you have anything exciting coming up in November? How was your October?
