Today was such a relaxing, wonderful day.
And it was exactly what I needed.
After the run, my mom got right back to getting dinner ready. The turkey was cooking, the stuffing was warming and the potatoes were getting ready to be mashed. For appetizers, there was spinach and artichoke dip in a bread bowl, deviled eggs and wine. Very simple this year. It was just me, my parents, my grandmother and my uncle Scott.
On the menu for dinner:
- Turkey
- Mashed potatoes
- Sweet potato casserole
- Cranberry conserve
- Green bean casserole
- Sausage stuffing (this stuff has turned me into a stuffing eater!)
Cheers!
And for dessert: the oh-my-gosh-so-delicious-make-this-now pumpkin coffee cake and apple pie with homemade whipped cream.
After the food settled, my dad, uncle and I went out front to throw around the football. It’s been awhile since I’ve done that, but I can still throw a mean spiral! And then after gram and Uncle Scott left, I made my way over to my in-laws for more dessert and some family time with them. My dessert was a big hit and I enjoyed some more wine, coffee and a black-o’lantern, a drink made with Guinness and pumpkin beer. Usually it separates to make a distinct two toned drink, but I couldn’t wait for it to settle. It was delicious, too!
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I’m heading up to Maine tomorrow for the weekend! ![]()
