I think I have found my new favorite restaurant in Boston.
Ever since Tico opened, where the old Cottonwood Café was located, it has been a mission of mine to go. For some reason the opportunity always alluded me. Until last night. When David asked where we should go for dinner, I jumped at the chance to go! And thankfully it wasn’t very busy because it’s the Friday before Christmas.
To start out, I had a Harpoon Winter Warmer for a drink.
There were so many delicious options!
We decided on starting with the tender pork with spicy cucumber tacos.
Oh.My.God. Can I have a dozen of these? They were so insanely delicious! I loved the addition of the fresh cilantro. And why am I not eating corn tortilla’s more often?
We also got two small plates to share: the Tico’s mac ‘n cheese with Serrano ham and crunchy bread crumbs and the sweet corn with bacon, chiles, and Thai basil.
The sweet corn was definitely my favorite! It reminded me of spicy hash. David liked the mac ‘n cheese the most, so we shared a few bites of each and then just finished off the one that we liked the most. ![]()
For an entrée, David ordered the skirt steak, medium rare. He’s pretty particular about how he likes his steak cooked and since we weren’t at a steak house, he was a bit skeptical about how it would come out.
Um, this was cooked perfectly! And they split it for us already, giving us our own little bucket of French fries. And that pickled onion on the top was the perfect accompaniment.
This was by far one of the more perfect meals I have ever had. The food was phenomenal (seriously, I could make a meal out of those tacos!), the service was amazing and my water was always full!
We devoured it.
Final verdict: Go to Tico. Now. ![]()
