The other day, David mentioned that he was feeling bored with his meals. They were consisting of: mac ‘n’ cheese with hot dogs, Tony’s pizza, burgers, roast beef sandwiches, and repeat. Not exactly the most energy inducing type of meals. And with his third-shift job, he already feels quite lethargic; the food wasn’t exactly helping.
I mentioned to him that I had a subscription to Clean Eating magazine and how they feature week long meals in each edition, as well as a grocery list. He told me that he would love it if I picked out recipes from the magazines and make him a meal plan for the week. He wants to get more into healthier foods, but he’s lost just figuring it out on his own. He’s tried in the past to eat exactly what I do, but the dishes never seemed to fill him up. I try and stay away from too much meat; he thrives on it. So I’ve picked out some healthy, clean dishes that allow him to eat chicken, pork and beef.
I’ve come up with a lose meal plan for the next week. I focused on three types of meat (chicken, pork and ground beef) that can be used in pasta dishes, salads, roasted, baked, meatloaf-ed, whatever! Dinners were the main focus and hopefully leftovers will make some killer lunches. I’m also seeing a lot of soup.
Along the way, I’ll be posting the recipes since I miss that part of my blog! I haven’t really cooked a whole lot of interesting meals lately and I think this is just the push that I needed. Our kitchen here at the apartment is tight for the three of us to be in (and three of us to stock food in!). I cannot WAIT to have my own kitchen in our new house. I know I’ll be cranking out the good stuff once we move in at the beginning of the summer.
And with house news: We finally got the power disconnected from the house, which means we can go to the town and get the demolition permit! David has enlisted the help of his army buddies so we should have that thing down in one day.
Do you meal plan in advance? What tips or advice do you have when planning your meals?

I’ve started cooking more too. We deserve delicious meals. I use a lot of Clean Eatings recipes from their website, I should just subscribe, but I’m cheap. Haha!
I swear if my husband didn’t have me to cook for him every night, he would live off hot dogs and TJ’s frozen pizza.
Clean Eating is a great resource! Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
I like to cook big proteins (like pulled chicken, roasted chicken, pot roast) on the weekend and shape my meals around that.
