On a Monday…
Yesterday was a busy, busy day for David and I! By the time we got home from his sister’s Oscar party, it was after midnight and we were exhausted. But I had a great weekend and have a bit to talk about! ![]()
Yesterday, David and I ventured to Ikea and Jordan’s Furniture in Stoughton. Our plan was to get some ideas at Ikea and then maybe see what the prices would be for Jordan’s quality. Obviously we didn’t buy anything, but we did get some great ideas.
Oh wait, I take that back! I went to Ikea and bought this:

I’ve seen this all around the blog-world and I knew I had to get one. A milk frother! I used it right when I got home and it made an excellent misto.
I was also able to get some visuals on what kind of dining room set that I’m looking for. I love the dark wood table with the lighter colored, fabric chairs. Modern meets rustic is my kind of look. Yet, I still don’t know how that plays with my more contemporary looking kitchen. Hmm. Hopefully the looks will all come together!
Don’t know if I would go with white though. David and I can get messy when we eat.
But a lighter color or soft pattern might be nice. I also liked this look of the comfy couch with contemporary coffee table and this nice arm chair.
And you certainly cannot go to Ikea without getting some frozen yogurt! Actually, I’ve been to this store many times and this was my first time getting it. It hit the spot.
Then we were off to Jordan’s furniture. And lo and behold, they had my look! And with a little bit better quality (and resulting higher price).
We also found this awesome couch in the clearance area of JF! It looked like a giant pillow. So of course, I dove right in.
Apparently so excited that I didn’t even bother to fix my hair.
After our furniture excursion David and I came back to Cambridge and ended up at Bukowski’s for some lunch.
I knew that this place had a killer beer selection but I had no idea how awesome their menu was! They had several vegan and a lot of vegetarian options. All of their burgers can even be made into either a turkey or veggie burger. I was craving a veggie burger. I had mine topped with lettuce, cheese, pickles and pesto, with a side of fried plantains.
So, so delicious! And it came out in no time. Service was prompt and friendly and I loved the open space with large bar, and their wheel-o-beer! You spin, you buy, you drink. ![]()
Bukowski’s is located in Cambridge and Boston. We dined at the one at 1281 Cambridge St, Inman Square, Cambridge.
Last night, we went to David’s sister’s place to watch the Oscars. This year was SO much better than last year. Billy Crystal is hilarious and everything seemed to just stay classy, albeit a bit cheeky (Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis). My favorite dress? I really thought Natalie Portman looked adorable in her 50s style dress. She’s just gorgeous.

And can I please be best friends with Emma Stone? Or be her? She’s awesome.
Today was a little bit more of a relaxing day. I ran a speedy 2 miles this morning (17 minutes). I really want to PR on my next 5k in two weeks! Time to beat is 26 minutes. For lunch, David and I went to Darwin’s on Cambridge Street. Love their sandwiches! I ordered the Leonard which had tabouli and hummus with cucumber, green pepper, red onion, carrots, and sprouts with herb vinaigrette on whole wheat bread. My no-meat Lent is going so far so good!
Tomorrow I’m looking forward to attending a Hospitality reunion in Boston. It’ll be our professors and about 30 students that graduated from the school at Endicott. I love catching up with former classmates and hopefully making some connections!
Hmm, what other random things have been going on? I’m thinking about signing up to run my 3rd Maine half marathon (ran in 2007 and 2008) at the end of September. Any area readers want to run?? It’s a gorgeous course through Portland and Falmouth, Maine! ![]()
Well, I think this post is long enough as it is! I had a great weekend and am looking forward to the week ahead!

I like that table set-up. I think it would work with the style you’ve described. Looks like a fun time in IKEA and JF!
Ikea is so funnnn to go to! Especially when ice cream is involved haha
I like that table set up a lot!
Ice cream makes everything fun.
We have a lot of stuff from IKEA, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, West Elm and Jordan’s. One great tip is to get floor models of items. They may have a few scratches on them but depending on where they are, they won’t be noticeable. We have a bench and nightstand from West Elm that were floor models and SO cheap!
Floor models are great finds! David and I have also bought cheap fridges because they have dents on the side…the side that faces the wall!
West Elm has gorgeous items.
I didn’t even know Ikea had immersion blenders!
Is that what it’s called? Haha, it will always be a frother to me.
And it was only $2!
