A Super Saturday

by Alaina on March 3, 2012 · 5 comments

I think 2012 is shaping up to be my year of PR’s!

This morning, unfortunately, my breakfast went unpictured. I woke up around 7AM, took a quick shower, then had a cup of Banana Nut Cheerios. When I got to my parents house around 8:30, I ate a mini blueberry bagel, with peanut butter, and a cup of coffee. Then we were off to Pawtucket for the Irish 5k!

It was pouring when we first got there but at last it wasn’t too too cold. Ah, who am I kidding, I was shivering until we started running. It rained for the first bit of the race, but it cleared up towards the end and it wasn’t windy. Pretty perfect for running actually.

The first mile had a hill which was a bit slow going, but I made sure to keep my pace low and steady. There were a few times that I thought my lungs were going to explode, but I kept right on going! At the 3 mile mark, the clock said 24:42 and then .1 after that I saw it as 25:52, so something was off. But my goal was to be under 26 minutes and it was just turning to 26 when I crossed the finish line!

As for my pace:

Yeah, I was a bit over the place. But I ended up running my fastest 5k!! The results still aren’t up, so these are stats from my Garmin.

Stats
Time: 25:49
Pace: 8:19
Division: 44/398
Overall: 208/744

Apparently the course was just a bit longer. I’ll see what the official results say. (3/4 – Official results are up! Time is ok, but their pace projection is way off. Their results say a pace of 8:37 for a time of 25:49.)

When we got back home, my dad and I went to lunch at Acapulco’s. I had such a hankering for Mexican. To start, we had a bowl of tortilla chips and delicious salsa, and I had a Negra Modela with a slice of lime. For my meal, I had the Spinach Enchiladas which was two soft corn tortillas with spinach and cheese, covered with green fresh tomatillo sauce. It was served with rice and whole black beans.

So, so, SO good! This is seriously my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is out so quickly and always delicious! And they have the best salsa.

When I got home, I was so hungry for dinner. And it was a typical BFD (Breakfast for Dinner) so I didn’t whip out my camera for this one. It was scrambled eggs mixed with milk, a side of veggie sausage and toast with strawberry jam.

Right now David, Grace and I are watching some Vampire Diaries. It’s actually quite the addicting show. And I’m downing a cup of tea because I think I’m coming down with a cold. Sad smile Boo.

#marchphotoaday – Your neighborhood. So I didn’t think of taking this picture until I was in my apartment. So you get a photo-out-the-window picture.

What is your favorite restaurant? Have you ran any races recently?

Congrats girl! I think my favorite restaurant is one that involves good wine, a nice atmosphere, and a local menu. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

Congrats on the PR!

I love Acapulco’s. They have amazing fish tacos. I’m not sure what my favorite restaurant is…anywhere that sells pizza :)
