Yesterday David and I spent the majority of the afternoon working on things around the house. So we built up quite the appetite on our way back home. Instead of cooking anything at home, we decided to use my last Open Table gift card. After a quick search of OT restaurants in the area, we settled on Ole Mexican Grill in Inman Square.
The décor was a lot fancier than I had thought, but it was warm and welcoming. We were sat immediately and the restaurant was pretty busy. We sat for about 5 minutes before a server came to see us. And it seemed that throughout the dinner, the server was very slow. Thankfully the food did not take long to come out though so we weren’t there forever.
To start, we had chips and salsa. I saw someone going around the restaurant grinding ingredients into bowls for the guests tables. I was hoping that our salsa was coming for that, but sadly, no. ![]()
Instead, we were given this salsa.
It was really thin and had a slight black pepper flavor. David said “It’s not the worst I’ve had, but it’s the worst I’ve had in a restaurant.” We both love thick salsa. The chips, however, were amazing! They were thick and still warm.
For a drink I had a delicious Pacifico beer.
For dinner, I ordered the Chiles Rellenos which was two roasted poblano chiles stuffed with mixed Mexican cheeses, spinach, raisins and pine nuts, served on a roasted tomato broth, plantains and Mexican rice.
The chiles were very cheesy and a bit spicy. There were only a few raisins and pine nuts, but there was an abundance of spinach and cheese. The rice was delicious and the plantains were sweet and mushy. A good kind of mushy.
Overall, the food was delicious and the ambiance was cozy. The service was really lacking and slow though. I would love to go back and try the tableside guacamole and, when I can eat meat again, their delicious tapas menu.
Ole Mexican Grill is located at 11 Springfield St, Inman Square Cambridge.

I have an expired Groupon that I still need to use (for the purchase price). I’m not sure if your review makes me eager to go!
I like the food at Ole (esp the guac and their tacos) but I agree that service is slow…
I’ll go back to Ole with you! The chile rellenos sound amazing. And, I love guac.
The guac there IS delicious. I’ve been a few times, and I felt like the drinks and guac are definitely the strong points. Service is fine as long as you’re not starving (and plus, once you are stuffing your face with guac, you care less about how long your entree takes), but I sort of think the entrees are a bit overpriced.
I’ve only been to Ole once so far, and I really enjoyed my meal – the guacamole is fantastic!
That’s annoying the service was slow, but oh goodness does that food look good! At least it made up for a bit
I would try the table-side guac too… I have been on such an avocado kick lately!
Sad day about the salsa. I love having salsa and chips when I go to Mexican restaurants so I would’ve been really sad about that too!
