Since becoming a concierge I have had the opportunity to dine at a LOT of different restaurants. And when guests inquire about what restaurant has the best of everything, I usually pause because, save for Bistro du Midi, no one restaurant has the best of everything (in my opinion). I’m usually one to tell you what the best dish is at certain restaurants.
This past week I watched the Food Network show “Best Thing I Ever Ate” and it got me thinking about what my favorite dishes are. I really don’t think I can narrow it down to just one dish so here’s a few from each category. ![]()
My Favorite Drinks
Left to Right: Gin Somethin’ from the Back Bay Social Club / B.R. Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon / Grass-fed Mule from Red Lantern
My Favorite Appetizers
Clockwise from Top: Onion Rings from 5 Napkin Burger / Pork Tacos from Tico / Pork Belly Buns from Myers + Chang / Quail Egg Slider from Lucky’s Lounge
My Favorite Salads
Chopped Salad from The Chart House / Insalata Misto from Limoncello
My Favorite Lunches
Left to Right: The Hanover from Boston Common Coffee / Turkey and cranberry sandwich from Sam’s at Louis Boston / Chicken Quesadilla from The Rattlesnake
My Favorite Dinners
Osso Bucco from Da Vinci / Steak au Poivre from Bistro du Midi
*My absolute favorite dish was eaten before I started blogging so I don’t have any pictures, but it’s the chestnut raviolini with pulled duck, butter and parmigiano cheese from Prezza. It’s a seasonal dish but the season is right now! And the restaurant is open again after having a kitchen fire last fall. Who wants to join me? ![]()
My Favorite Desserts
Chocolate Bread Pudding from Sonsie / Hot Chocolate Lava Cake from The Chart House
As someone who talks a lot about liking fruity desserts over chocolate, it’s hard not to just drop everything to order these items.
After compiling this list I’ve realized a few things: 1) I love making a meal out of appetizers 2) I would choose having a big, delicious lunch rather than dinner and 3) I’ve tried a lot of different dinner items but none have really stood out besides the two above.
What’s your favorite dish?

I used to be a Da Vinci fan…in fact, I even had the rehearsal dinner for my wedding there. But after three of the guests (of 24 total, and including MY MOTHER) got food poisoning that night and were miserable at my wedding (so much for pictures…she was green), I can’t in good faith recommend that place anymore.
Oh my gosh, that’s horrible! I’m so sorry that that happened at your rehearsal dinner.
I haven’t actually been back since that dinner (in ’10) and there are a lot of other great Italian restaurants to choose from. But man, that one dish was gooood.
Nice mouthwatering post! I LOVE Bistro du Midi and their duck is insane (if you like duck). I also love the bolognese at Mama Maria’s.
This is such a fun post! Gosh, there are so many amazing restaurants to choose from in the Boston area!
